School Counselor- therapist
Job Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counseling sessions to students addressing academic, social, emotional, and behavioral concerns.
- Develop and implement counseling programs that promote student mental health, well-being, and positive behavior.
- Identify students at risk and create intervention strategies in collaboration with teachers, parents, and administration.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records in compliance with school policies and local regulations.
- Offer crisis intervention and support in cases of emergencies or critical incidents.
- Facilitate workshops and awareness sessions for students, staff, and parents on topics such as stress management, bullying prevention, conflict resolution, and resilience building.
- Support teachers and staff with strategies to manage student behavior and mental health challenges in the classroom.
- Liaise with external mental health professionals and community services when specialized support is required.
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and supportive school environment in line with the school’s vision and UAE educational standards.
- Participate in continuous professional development and stay updated on best practices in school counseling and therapy.
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field from a recognized university.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of relevant experience working as a counselor or therapist in a school or child-focused setting.
- Valid professional license or certification as a counselor/therapist (preferred: MOE or CDA license, or eligibility to obtain one in UAE).
- Strong understanding of child and adolescent development, learning challenges, and mental health issues.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, teachers, and external professionals.
- Culturally sensitive and able to work effectively in a diverse school community.
- Proficiency in English; knowledge of Arabic is an advantage.
